Professional development includes a Masters Degree in Professional Creative Practice, along with a BA Honours in International Business. Phil applies this Sales & Marketing acumen to commercial assignments and for larger projects, Phil collaborates with a number of trusted creatives. This is particularly useful for video production, events or when a PR company is involved.

Personal work considering photographic ontology has been celebrated as part of Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival, Auckland Festival of Photography and other solo exhibitions. More recently, work from SALT was shortlisted for the British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Humanity award, elevated him to Finalist of the NZIPP Portrait Photographer of the Year 2021 and included in Edition 365, a documentation of the Covid year, 2020.
